About

Born and raised in Louisiana. Educated in Mississippi. Unemployed and divorced (on the same day) in Appalachia. Currently living and loving in Texas.

Whitney Blake Myrick has been involved in music since the age of seven but didn’t start songwriting until she needed an outlet during the pandemic. Already going through a divorce and midlife crisis, Whitney started writing about the transformations she was experiencing in isolation in rural Appalachia. Whitney moved to Texas in late 2020 and finally finished writing her first song in early 2021, just days before her 40th birthday; after finding love in Texas, she realized she could write about more than just heartbreak and anger.

Whitney started 2022 by writing down, “What would Johnny Cash do?” She decided he wouldn’t be scared to put out some music, so she decided to go for it at the age of 41.

With occasional nods to her home state of Louisiana, tequila, and her beloved football teams, the first few singles from Whitney are primarily inspired by her midlife crisis as well as the newfound love and liberation she has experienced in the aftermath.
